Restaurant: Yellow River Noodles 黄河水陕西小吃
Beijing, China – Wide, chewy, and over two feet long; there’s never been a more satiating noodle. I grew up in California thinking my favorite noodles were Chow Fun, but alas, there are wider and funner noodles to be had. Fun.
Biáng biáng noodles (梆梆麵) are a type of noodle found in Shaanxi province. Dressed in a little oil seasoned with Sichuan peppercorn, a dash of dark vinegar, ground chili pepper, and topped with anything from bean sprouts to meat; this bowl is hearty and charismatic! It’s hard for me to order anything else when I eat at Yellow River Noodle (黄河水陕西小吃).
Every attention lover needs a devotee, so I ordered the cold spinach stir-fried with peanuts.
Another one of my favorites at this restaurant is Yang Rou Pao Mo, a soup comprised of tender mutton slices, rice vermicelli, and mantou. Served on the side are garnishes of sweet pickled garlic, cilantro, and chili paste.
One of the best things about this place is that it is not only delicious, but it is also open 24 hours and delivers. However, because it is located at the base of Gongrentiyuchang (工人体育场, Worker’s Stadium), it is only accessible to soccer fans during games.

Just searched for your post to find that there are two Yellow River Noodles in Beijing. I wonder if they’re the same owner. You’ll have to come to my neighborhood (Gongti / Sanlitun) and we can have biang biang noodles together.
