For my first blog post I thought I should give my 2 cents worth of advice to future travelers: choose wisely who you travel with.

Traveling with three women has taken a toll on what is the normally overwhelming, seeping, porous manliness that my aura once exuded. For example, let’s look at what I’m doing right now. I’m writing for a blog in a notebook with a glittery gel pen as I sit in Starbucks sipping my iced mocha. But what’s really troubling is what I did yesterday. I went to one of those inexpensive Asian hair salons where I got my hair washed for like 30 minutes. Initially, I was going to just wait while Shanti, Tranh and Adeline did their thing in the salon, but after some convincing from the others I figured I would at least try it. Unfortunately, I really, really liked it.

It was awesome.

I should probably add that a trip to China isn’t always as glamorous and sheltered as my post may suggest. It involves a lot of rugged traveling and exploring if one is to stumble across interesting places and adventures of which there are clearly plenty of in China. You may find yourself doing a range of new things albeit if its occasionally some girly things.
