The beginning of 2012 began with a bang! So many goals, so many thoughts echoing ‘I must finally get this done!’ I managed to see the completion of a trailer and first episode for ShowShanti video content, but efforts were put on the sidelines while other priorities moved to the front. The Time Out Food Awards demanded two to three months of endless eating, from which some excellent restaurants reigned champion. Beijing is filled with great restaurants, I’m sure my stomach missed out on ingesting many calories of consideration.

Seven months later (two weeks ago), the production team Kinetic ONE who created Twittamentary and the trailer and first episode of ShowShanti videos contacted me and… to make a long story short… we have started filming!!! The first episode we shot tells the story of my visit to Jianyi’s home in Chengdu and demonstrates the easiest dish he taught me, Tiao Pi Hui Guo Rou.

But first, my late lunch of cold Yunnan noodles topped with preserved vegetables, fried jizong mushrooms, and julienned crunchy goodness (凉拌米线, 16RMB) at Aimo Town.

Here are a few shots from the set at Fangjia Kitchen.

It’s a wrap! Time to taste the dish! The crew is hungry!

Torch, a most animated and helpful member of the team!

All done! Nobody ever finishes the veggies!

Huge thanks to the amazing crew for their hard work! So easy to work with! Thanks also to everyone who made today possible.
