La Jolla, San Diego, California — I reunited with one of my dear friends I met from when she lived in Beijing a couple years ago. Heather (Turquoise Tile Kitchen) is a fellow foodie. We used to hop on our bikes in Beijing, bike to Sanyuanli market, make dinners, and talk food. I might even credit her a bit for the birth of After the hundredth day without rainfall in Beijing, the weather was drizzly but she felt it would be fine to ride our bikes to the market. As I rode my bike out of my apartment driveway, the surface was slick and my front tire slipped while I flew forward. I broke my arm and this detoured me from flying to the US to take GMAT prep courses. Instead I stayed in Beijing to recover and one sleepless night, ShowShanti project was born.

Shanti & Heather

Thank you Heather for being a part of my process and being a part of so many of my food adventures.

Reunited, we find ourselves at Prep Kitchen La Jolla for heartily made food, organic, wholesome, and insanely delicious. The service deserves equal applause.

Shrimp Conchiglie ($17.50) Cherry Tomato, Garlic, Basil Pesto & Breadcrumbs

PK Meatloaf Melt ($12.25) Onions, Gruyere, & Remoulade

Because Heather was torn between trying the amazing Shrimp Conchiglie or the Fusili, our server brought a generous portion of the Fusili Bolognese to taste.

Fusili Bolognese ($16.95) beef, rosemary, and porcini mushrooms

Everything was excellent!
