On a hot summer’s day, all anyone can think about is cooling off, and what better way to do so than to make your own serving of cold brewed tea! We’re excited to share a new and simple way to create this refreshing summer beverage that will surely inspire a new appreciation for your favorite teas. The method we use transforms a cup of tea into a perfectly cool and clean beverage that’s all natural – free of artificial sweeteners and flavors found in most other iced tea drinks.

Tranquil Tuesdays – Celadon Collection

The recipe is simple.

With no need for hot water, simply add 10 grams of loose tea leaves to 1 liter of cold water. We recommend leaving the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 6 hours or allowing even more time for a more flavorful brew. This easy-to-follow recipe serves up a pitcher of cold brewed tea, perfect for any occasion.

After receiving countless questions from our beloved customers at the Beijing Organic Farmer’s Market about the benefits of cold brewing teas and how they compare to the traditional hot brew, we began our research. A cold brewed tea has a subtler and smoother taste, the perfect way to enjoy a relaxing afternoon with family and friends, something that the team here at Tranquil Tuesdays knows all too well. In addition to its lighter flavor, a cold brewed tea has less caffeine, is relatively easy to brew, and does not alter the original taste of the tea. We’re so excited to have come across such a simple and innovative way to enjoy the unique flavors of our favorite teas.

Best teas for cold brewing

While experimenting with different teas makes for a fun afternoon, we’ve cold brewed each one of our personally sourced loose-leaf teas and have found that our Phoenix Honey Orchid Oolong, Mao Jian Green, and Tieguanyin Oolong deliver the most delicious results. Choosing teas from historical Chinese tea producing regions is ideal when making a fresh cup of cold brewed tea. Not only are our collection of tea leaves unscented and unblended, they are hand picked for a truly premium quality that allow the purest flavors of the tea to be released into each brew. While a traditional hot brewed tea never goes out of style, tea lovers get the opportunity to continue using teas they already own well into summer.
